There is only one way to clean your carpet to have it always looking good, and nice to touch. It is through vacuum cleaning and done on a regular schedule. Those of you who still have not done any vacuuming work, these tips will prove helpful:

1. In using the vacuum to clean your carpet, always make sure that there are no things on the carpet that might cause the vacuum to work improperly.
2. The suction power of the vacuum is diminished with a vacuum bag full of dirt. It is imperative that the vacuum bag should always be cleaned of sucked dirt before you start work.

3. The direction is important in vacuum cleaning. In order to finish your work faster, always have a forward direction which is a given for every vacuum cleaning works. Doing it otherwise, will only make you run the risk of damaging your cord. Remember every thing should be kept out of the way of the vacuum and going both ways will expose your vacuum cord to be sucked by the vacuum itself.

4. Stroke overlapping is one technique used in vacuum cleaning to ensure a good cleaning of the carpet surface. This is made possible by overlapping the area covered by your first stroke on your second stroke. The desired overlapping percentage is 50 per cent of your first stroke in order that remaining dust left on your first stroke can be covered by your second stroke.

5. To reduce the possibility of matting of the carpet’s surface, you should change the direction of your vacuum cleaning every time you clean your carpet. You can do this by noting down your direction each time you vacuum clean so that you can have another direction on your next scheduled cleaning of your carpet.

6. When you purchase your vacuum cleaner, there are miscellaneous attachments that are included. One of these is the crevice tool attachment that you can use by hooking it up to your vacuum to effectively clean the tight areas and corners of your carpet.

7. Dirt and dust under the bed is something you have to be aware of since it can affect your health. After all, it would be good to have a nice smelling bedroom without any dust or any other impurities under the very bed that we would be sleeping every night, isn’t it? And to do this, just wave your vacuum’s wand to suck away those dust and dirt under your bed from time to time to maintain the over-all cleanness of your bedroom.

For animal litter, care should be made not to crush them on the carpets surface, for they can easily embed on it and it would be hard for you to clean it. It would help if you first sprinkle powdered sodium bicarbonate or otherwise known as baking soda on the litter. The powder will help absorb the liquid part of the litter to prevent it from soaking the carpets surface. It will also deodorize the bad smell. Once the powder has dried up the litter, you can now vacuum clean your carpet.  Vacuum cleaning is a good way of maintaining the luster and color of your carpets. Try it.
